Section A: A
synopsis of Candida
Candida and fungus is the most prolific and devastating
factors in human health today, yet the medical industry
is giving it little attention. The following is a list
of facts about Candida.
- Many doctors ignore it and treat anyone who
complains about it as a hypochondriac. The
symptoms of Candida match the list in the Physicians
Desk Reference for hypochondria. Candida is
fiercely denied and fought against by many in
the medical field. Some doctors have even had
their licence's revoked or sanctioned by State
licensing boards because they treated Candida.
- Candida cannot be cured or slowed down until
one eliminates sugar and fungal items. Treating
it with any means and not eliminating the items
in chart # 3 below will be of little effect,
and it will come back, often worse than before.
- It can be the fundamental cause of many other
diseases, yet in these cases, usually the secondary
disease is treated and the foundational disease
of Candida is ignored.
- Practically everyone has some problems with
Candida some time in their life.
- Those who have chronic symptoms are seldom
diagnosed or treated.
- It is one of the most difficult diseases to
eliminate, and cycles up and down over and over.
- It is the same disease as vaginal yeast infections
in women, yet is more harmful when it is systemic,
meaning internal throughout the body, and men
and women can have it internally.
- It is a fungus or yeast and the most hardy
plant on the planet meaning it is the most resistant
to being eradicated.
- It grows naturally in the intestines, (everyone
has it) but when the body is compromised with
anything that slows down the immune system or
reduces friendly bacteria, it grows a so called
root through the intestinal walls and then spreads
via the blood system to every organ and cell
in the body. If it grows more in any one organ,
that organ is often treated without recognizing
that it was Candida that caused the problem.
Sinus and lung problems are classic examples
of being treated without considering that they
are infested with yeast and fungus. Lung inhalers
may have cortical or steroids that feed Candid
ia.
- The prescription anti
fungal dugs such as nystatin
and diflucan used for Candida often compromise
the immune system, stress or harm the liver,
and the yeast hides in the cartilage and ligaments,
(non blood areas) then after the drug is no
longer present, the yeast comes out of hiding
and since the body defense system is lowered
it has nothing to stop it from coming back worse
than before.
- The over use of antibiotics is linked by thousands
of medical researchers who claim the antibiotics
kill the friendly bacteria in the gut which
eliminates the bodies normal fighters of Candida,
thus causing candida to grow.
- Because it is a plant it has a living system
to defend itself and can hide in the ligaments
and cartridge of the body when it is attacked,
then after the attack (such as antibiotics,
or prescription drugs) it can come back worse
than before. This is because the drugs often
killed the friendly bacteria that would have
normally been present to resist it.
- When fighting Candida one will experience
Herxheimer's reaction. This is because the fungus
being eliminated from the body will often overwhelm
the elimination system in the kidneys and liver
and the backup process will cause every symptom
of the disease often worse than before. One
must increase water and decrease the rate of
items that are attacking it or one may suffer
symptoms greater than the body can endure. One
of these is depression and the treatment can
cause suicide or other problems.
- Candida or yeast growth produces alcohol in
the body which can cause a person to react as
if they are drunk, or loss of normal mental
and physical functions. A person can lose their
normal judgmental and social skills, reacting
in behaviors that are counter productive. The
person and all who observe these episodes may
have no clue to what is occurring. This can
occur when a person ingests sugar or fungal
items and have ingested any alcoholic beverage.
Often this will occur in a lower level than
an actual alcoholic drunk, thus making it much
more difficult to recognize. Alcoholics are
highly probable to have candida. Candida causes
sugar in the body to be converted to alcohol
and can cause the person to act as if they are
drunk, yet not have ingested any alcohol. Likewise
an alcoholic can be addicted to alcohol because
of candida. A person with candida can after
eating something with sugar start acting out
of character.
- Candida can be caused by or increased by other
diseases. Any disease that lowers the immune
system can allow Candida to grow. Candida cannot
be eliminated if one has other diseases such
as Celiac Disease, Parasites, Digestion and
elimination problems, Copper Toxicity, Metallothionein,
Mercury, Aluminum or heavy metal toxicity, Autoimmune
problems or Lyme Disease. This a fact few who
treat Candida understand. This means there is
a viscous cycle wherein Candida can be caused
by certain diseases, as well as it can cause
certain diseases.
- Copper toxicity is a by product of Candida
and few recognize it. almost every multivitamin
has copper. If you have Candida or any immune
disease consider avoiding vitamins with copper.
Few recognize this, thinking if you do not have
the tell tale brown or rust colored ring around
the iris of your eye, you do not have copper
problems. Copper in vitamins cause head aches
and encephalitis (brain swelling) for me.
- Oxidative Stress; To cure Candida one must
fix the whole body and rid it of Oxidative Stress.

Section B. A
list of symptoms of Candida.
1.
Alphabetical List of Candida Symptoms.
Note; this list is not a conclusive list and there
may be other symptoms. Do not think because
this list is so large that it is an imaginary
disease. Fungus is a deadly organism that
destroys the body and effects every organ and
system.
Among
these organs are the hormone regulators and producers
and as fungus upsets them it results in every
function of the body being upset. Thus literally
every adverse health symptom is a possibility
with candida. Anyone with an immune system problem
will have candida and the other way around. Anyone
with candida will have an autoimmune system dysfunction.
see
immune system
As you see there
are many symptoms, do not do what many doctors
do, by discounting this because it is so inclusive.
It is a large list because it is a metabolic failure.
In other words Candida disrupts the entire body.
This means one can have only one or two symptoms
or all of them depending upon the person and their
immune system. Candida is a very real disease,
proven by many research scientists. As I have
researched many other diseases, I find each disease
related to a failure of the immune system each
as a long list of symptoms. |

Current medical research
is claiming Candida and fungus is far more prevalent
than main stream medicine is recognizing. Antibiotics
are thought to be the main cause of Candida and fungus
diseases. Asthma is reported to be one of the first
and most prevalent symptoms of Candida and fungus.
Section C:
Foods that cause Candida and foods that are considered
safe for Candida.
2.
Candida is a live
organism (plant) and regulates the body's cravings
for foods that will feed it. The cravings
addictive similar to a drug addiction. Candida
fools the mind to believing just a little sugar
or chocolate or a soft drink won't make a difference
and fools the mind to feed it. Candida turns all
sugar and carbohydrates into alcohol affecting
the frontal lobe of the brain impairing judgment.
One of the myths of Candida concerns sugar free
foods. They feed Candida just as bad as foods
with sugar and often worse because because they
also contain harmful additives such as aspartame.
Foods
recommended in the following chart are a composite
from many sites. Several foods are listed twice
some sites say do not eat them and others recommend
them such as sauerkraut. |

honey, fructose, maple syrup, brown sugar
Fruits, most
are very high in sugar Avoid grapes, raisins,
dates, prunes and figs
Sugar Free foods
such as soft drinks, corn syrup
Vitamins or
herbal preparations that are not yeast free
(several sites claim
B vitamins aid yeast growth and some claim
it inhibits yeast growth) B-comples thiamine,
niacin and riboflavin are usually yeast-grown,
although it is possible to obtain them with
a brown rice base (1)

One clove of garlic a day is claimed to
cure Candida
Lemon juice

"Chile peppers are a food item found
nearly ubiquitously in many Mesoamerican
cultures (44). Their use may reflect more
than a desire to flavor foods. Many essential
nutrients, such as vitamin C, provitamins
A and E, and several B vitamins, are found
in chiles (27). A terpenoid constituent,
capsaicin, has a wide range of biological
activities in humans, affecting the nervous,
cardiovascular, and digestive systems (236)
as well as finding use as an analgesic (47).
The evidence for its antimicrobial activity
is mixed. Recently, Cichewicz and Thorpe
(42) found that capsaicin might enhance
the growth of Candida albicans but that
it clearly inhibited various bacteria to
differing extents. Although possibly detrimental
to the human gastric mucosa, capsaicin is
also bactericidal to Helicobacter pylori
(106). Another hot-tasting diterpene, aframodial,
from a Cameroonian spice, is a broad-spectrum
antifungal."(5)
"Sauerkraut is a very healthy food
for several reasons. Cabbage is very high
in calcium and boron which acts synergistically
with calcium. So it's very assimilable.
It also has lactobacillus bifidus and acidophilus
which help to replenish the friendly flora
in the intestines. Overall, it's excellent
for the digestive system and helpful for
candida, too."(5)
Honey kills candida (see report 21 below)

| Cellulase |
Cellulase is a promising
new treatment for intestinal yeast infections.*
The cell walls of intestinal yeast are comprised
mainly of cellulose. Since cellulase is the enzyme
that breaks down cellulose, when significant concentrations
come into contact with yeast cells, the cell walls
are irreparably damaged and the organisms die. |
| |
|
| FOS, or Fructo-oligosaccharides |
nondigestible dietary
fibers that help to keep the stomach and bowels
healthy. FOS are considered a "prebiotic"
because they nourish the naturally present "friendly"
bacteria (especially Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli)
which help to ward off infection in the digestive
system. |
| Gamma-Linoleic Acid (GLA) |
|
| Germanium (organic) |
Japanese scientist, Asai,
found that an intake of 100-300 mgs per day of germanium
improved many illnesses including candida. Research
shows organic germanium increases tissue oxygenation |
| Origanum vulgare (Origaol Spice)
|
is believed to be more
effective at inhibiting Candida than caprylic acid.
The culinary herb oregano - a sub species is also
effective against bacteria. |
| Oxygen in molecular form. |
One of Oxygen's many properties is
that it destroys harmful bacteria. Researchers have
not found any anaerobic infectious disease bacteria
that Aerobic Oxygen does not kill. |
| Garlic |
|
| Goldenseal |
|
| Grapefruit seed extract |
|
| Oregon grape |
|
| Horopito seed |
has antifungal properties
and contains antioxidant flavonoids, quercetin and
taxifolin. |
| Hydrochloric tablets for digestion |
Digestion: Without complete
digestion, we cannot benefit from the healing properties
of the food we eat.
- Hydrochloric Acid: Unfortunately, the natural
secretions of hydrochloric acid in our stomachs
– necessary for breaking down food so
it can be easily absorbed by the small intestine
– tend to decrease as we age. Hydrochloric
acid is a powerful defense against bacteria
and parasites as it activates pepsin, and works
to kill the harmful fungi and bacteria found
in food. Low hydrochloric acid or low stomach
acid as it is often called, can lead to malabsorption,
intestinal distress, and allergic reactions
to various foods, all of which severely weaken
the immune system. Supplemental with meals can
help our bodies to more effectively break down
food, fostering better use of the proteins,
vitamins, and minerals in our food.
|
| Iodine
|
(potassium iodide solution)
Iodine may be the best remedy to eliminate
systemic yeast infections. |
| Lugol's solution |
"I regard Lugol's solution as
the most effective broad-spectrum microbicide, and
being specific for Candida and other fungi. I am
not aware of a medical drug with equal effectiveness."

|
| Minerals: |
-
- Selenium 100 mcg a day Selenium deficiencies
limit cellular immunity against yeast. Phagocytes
(cells active in cell-mediated immunity)
require selenium for the enzyme glutathione
peroxidase function. Peroxidase activity
in phagocytes is higher than in most other
tissues (approximately twice that in red
blood cells), and this is reflected in a
higher need for selenium. The glutathione
peroxidase system is an antioxidant enzyme
system and is especially critical for phagocytic
cell function. It has been experimentally
demonstrated that selenium deficiency selectively
causes a predisposition to yeast infection.
Food and chemically sensitive patients should
start with very low doses of selenium -
according to a “selenium titration
program” developed by Dr. Alfred Zamm,
M.D. and Dr. Stephen A. Levine
- Zinc 20-25 mg a day (this should be taken
at night).
- Magnesium 250 mg a day. Some research
links yeast overgrowth with magnesium deficiency
- Copper and zinc work together. Imbalanced
copper levels directly tie to Inflammatory
Bowel Disease (IBD) and candida. Copper
serves as a natural antifungal. People with
candida, parasites or Epstein-Barr virus
commonly have an excess of copper and mercury
in their body
- ionic calcium: One theory states that
a deficiency of ionic calcium (and other
alkalizing minerals) is at the root of candida
and juvenile diabetes. Acidosis ensues and
degenerative disease develops without these
minerals. Years ago I read in NW Walker
books that cooking calcium-containing foods
renders the calcium 'inorganic' and this
clogs up the organs, joints and tissues.
He advocates foods high in organic sodium
like celery and zucchini to help remove
the pile-up of inorganic calcium. Rich Anderson
of Arise & Shine company feels that
organic goat whey is the best source of
organic sodium
- 100 micrograms selenium for immune system
support.
- Dr. Cooter and Dr. Schmtt suggest 300 micrograms
of Molybdenum in three divided doses per day,
and further suggests staying on it for at least
4 months.
|
Oils:
- tea-tree oil
- neem tree oil
- cinnamon
- eucalyptus
- mustard
- thyme
- Evening primrose oil 250 1-3 times a day (this
is advisable since candida toxins can interfere
with fatty acid production, in turn important
for T-cell production)
- olive oil: 2 teaspoons with 2 teaspoons oat
bran, three times a day, to help keep fungus
from crossing the
intestinal barrier.
|
omega-3 oils , Flax-seed,
borage and evening primrose oils. One tablespoon
or three capsules of any of these, twice daily |
| Oregano oil |
|
| parsley |

| pau d'arco (called taheebo or lapacho) |
|
| propolis |
|
| Probiotics: |
Lactobacillus acidophilus
in large quantities (Ultradophilus, Maxidophilus,
Superdophilus, and so on, with approx. 2 billion
organisms per gram) to help repopulate the intestines.
Take morning and evening on an empty stomach. Take
probiotics - Lactobacillus acidophillus, bifidus
FOS -fructo oligo saccherides Eat natural yogurt
daily |
| Pantethine |
Dr. Atkins suggests 450
to 900 miligrams daily of Pantethine with an equal
amount of Pantethenic Acid. |
| |
|
| |
|
| Sea salt |
|
| stevioside (Pure |
(a plant extract) like
JAJA Stevioside™ and pure stevia leaf powder
like Honey Stevia Leaf™ are not sugars, though
many people call them that, and refer to them as
sugars or artificial sweeteners. They are not. In
fact, unlike sugars (including honey and other natural
and some artificial sweeteners), pure stevioside
like JAJA Stevioside and Honey Stevia Leaf they
do not encourage yeast growth. They are carbohydrate
free. Technically, they have a closed 3-carbon-ring
central structure of the molecule, so yeast and
bacteria can not latch on to them and use them.
This makes stevia and stevioside useless to the
candida albicans yeast, but highly useful to you |
| Tea Tree Oil,
Melaleuca Oil |
Tea tree oil
is an essential oil obtained by steam distillation
of the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, a plant
native to Australia. |
| Vitamins: |
- Yeast-free multi-vitamin/mineral
- 1000 milligrams vitamin C, four times a day
- B-complex vitamin with thiamine, niacin and
riboflavin (yeast free)
- Biotin is a B vitamin essential for the metabolism
of fats and proteins. It is believed to play
some role in preventing candida from converting
into its invasive form. 300 mgs of Biotin three
times daily and two teaspoons of green olive
oil three times a day prevents the conversion
of yeast to fungal form. At least six months
are required to get a good result.
- Vitamin A best taken in the form of beta carotene
10,000 units a day.
- Vitamin E 200-44 international units a day.
- Vitamin B complex 1 capsule a day.
- Folic acid 20-50 mcg a day ( this is important
for the correct differentiation of T-lymphocytes
into suppressive and killer cells)
-
-
- Vitamin E, A, balanced B, I-Lysine
and Pantothenic acid. Vitamins A and
C help with the infection resulting
from fungal micropunctures made into
the intestinal walls.(5)

b) Many recommend this test. Have a glass of water next
to your bed and spit into it the first thing as you
wake in the morning. If the saliva remains on top of
the water in the same form as when you first deposited
it, you probably do not have Candida. If little tentacles
start dropping towards the bottom of the glass from
the initial Saliva then it is highly probable that you
have Candida. http://www.candidasupport.org/test_saliva.html

d) Evaluate the list of symptoms in Section B, if you
have several, you might have Candida.
e) If you have negative reactions to odors is suggested
that is because you have Candida.
f ) If you have fungus on any part of your body it could
be because you have Candida internally.
Section F: How
to fight Candida
There are hundreds of
products claiming to cure Candida and as many recommendations
to cure it. I have been fighting Candida for years and
have not found any single product or method that works
by itself for me.
From my experience and
research there are three definite ways to combat Candida.
1) Eliminate all foods that contribute to it. This is
extremely difficult to do, not only is the diet hard
and restrictive, but Candida tricks the mind to believe
it is ok to consume the foods that feed Candida. Candida
is a living organism with DNA and one of its defense
mechanisms is to cause a chemical signal in the body
to feed it. This is especially strong as the Candida
is being eradicated or threatened. Warning:
Do not think that any herb or product that fights Candida
can do so effectively, if you have not eliminated the
foods that feed it.
2) Do not use only one herb or product to fight it.
Since it is a living organism, it adjusts to any thing
that is threatening it and builds a defense to it. When
fighting Candida change the product, or herb every two
weeks and do not immediately go back to the previous
fighter. Use several (at least 3, and more may be essential)
separate fighters or methods and rotate them
every two weeks.
3) As you fight Candida you are very likely to start
getting sicker than you were before. That is Herxheimer's
Reaction. Expect it and slow down the attack so
that you do not over tax your liver and elimination
system, but do not stop the battle. Increase you water
intake.
4 ) When and if you think you have cured it, do not
return to ingesting the foods that feed it. You must
be prepared to never stop fighting it as you may never
completely eliminate it.
5) Many highly recommend a constant dose of probiotics
throughout the Candida cleansing. Some recommend it
before and after, and even for life. Some recommend
products that contain 11 or more probiotics and to avoid
ones with only one or two.
One last note; study
carefully the warnings on prescription drugs used to
fight Candida. Most are very dangerous to the liver.
To a lesser degree the same can be said about herbs.
Every chemical we ingest that is more than we actually
need is stored in the liver and can effect its ability
to perform. The liver is like a sponge and stores excess
chemicals.

OF/OR CONTRIBUTORS TO GROWTH IN THE BODY: The
use of Antibiotics, Birth Control Pills, Cortisone,
Sugar & fat in the diet, Yeast in the diet, Insufficient
supply of nutrients, A genetic deficiency of Ig A (Immunoglobulin
A), Drugs or stress induced immune depression and related
diseases, Hypothyroidism - this is a condition that
is fairly common, as a low body temperature, permits
easier and faster growth of candida albicans" http://www.altcancer.com/lugols.htm

I believe in the importance
of providing all views, here is one that shows the current
medical communities view on Candida. Mayo Clinic:
"Be careful accepting this diagnosis. No studies
have proved that having intestinal Candidasis —
a large number of fungi-like Candida albicans in your
intestines — causes any symptoms of illness, nor
that treatments like a "candida cleanse" diet
will treat intestinal Candidasis effectively."

This quote from the Mayo Clinic
is one of many positions by the medical community who
in large do not accept Candida as a real disease.

In a recent study, 100% of autopsies performed on "AIDS
patients" revealed fatal levels of the fungal form
of Candida albicans, the form the yeast takes as it
develops unchecked by missing lactobacillus and bifidum
bacterias, killed off by antibiotics. In fact, Candida,
and interestingly, another fungal infection, pneumocystis
pneumonia, were the ailments afflicting 100% of the
patients Dr. Michael Gottlieb reported to the CDC. It
was this report that the CDC used as kindling for the
fire that would become HIV/AIDS. Is this mere coincidence
or is it possible that Robert Gallo missed the true
cause of AIDS? If 100% of the "first 5" reported
by Dr. Gottlieb had the p24 antigen and Candida infections,
why wasn't a direct causal connection between fungal
infections and AIDS made? Why instead was a "probable"
cause announced - a collection of p24 and other proteins
- named HTLV, or HIV, that only 37% of the AIDS patient
blood samples had? http://notaids.com/en/thrush

Blackwell Synergy:
"We analysed the autopsy records of the Greifswald
University Institute of Pathology (located in Eastern
Germany) in respect of findings of candidosis and aspergillosis
from 1994 to 2003. We also present eight immature aborted
fetuses and premature infants with a mycosis. In a total
of 2027 autopsies we found 164 cases of invasive candidosis
and aspergillosis (8.1%) including a combination of
both on four occasions. Other authors cited between
0.7 and 7.3%. In these 10 years in our material mycoses
and in particular candidosis increased in spite of slightly
decreased numbers of autopsies. The differences comparing
the 5-years periods (1994–98 and 1999–2003)
are highly significant for both mycoses and candidosis.
They are not significant for aspergillosis. A similar
relationship was observed in the distribution of mycotic
organs and causative origin for candidosis alone. In
the last 5 years the gastrointestinal and respiratory
tracts, including the peritoneum, were more frequently
infected by Candida. Non-haematological neoplasia and
pneumonia as basic diseases more often appeared in cases
of candidosis. All eight immature aborted fetuses and
premature infants suffered from candidosis. The survey
confirms the importance of autopsy as a tool for education
and quality control in medical diagnostic and therapeutic
activity in the field of mycoses, too." http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1439-0507.2005.01101.x?cookieSet=1&journalCode=myc

eMedicine:
"CMC (Chronic Mucocutaneous Candidosis) is associated
with a defect in cell-mediated immunity that may either
be limited to Candida antigens or be part of a more
general immune abnormality. Recent data suggest alterations
in cytokine production in response to Candida antigens.
These alterations include decreased interleukin 2 and
interferon-gamma levels (TH1 cytokines) and increased
interleukin 10 levels in some studies. Patients who
lack T-cell immunity (eg, those with severe combined
immune deficiency syndrome or DiGeorge syndrome) or
patients with severely impaired T-cell function (eg,
patients with AIDS) are susceptible to chronic candidal
infections. Defects in humoral immunity are not commonly
observed in patients with CMC, and patients with antibody
deficiencies are not particularly prone to Candidasis."

"Candida is also like a chameleon, able to transform
itself from a fungus into yeast. Candida is highly resistive
and may be able to mutate against an antifungal at or
around 21 days, so “rotation,” or switching
the antifungal used in an orderly fashion, is essential."
This source claims toxic metals and hormone
imbalances can cause Candida...Certain vitamins, minerals,
amino acids, and herbs can spread Candida. These are
the B- complex, vitamin D, Calcium, Copper, and Iron.
Other nutrients protect the Candida from the very medicines
used to kill it. Most antifungals work by creating “oxidative
stress” against the membrane or outer skin of
the Candida. This works by “burning” or
“digesting” the outer layer of the Candida.
Antioxidant vitamins in high doses will protect the
Candida from treatment." http://healthtruth.reachlocal.net/211.php

"COPPER AND YEAST INFECTIONS Our bodies use copper
to help control the growth of yeast. This may be because
copper favors aerobic metabolism, the type of cellular
metabolism that human beings should have. More specifically,
copper, along with iron, is required for the electron
transport system, where most of our cellular energy
is produced.
In contrast, yeasts and fungi are anaerobic. This means
they ferment sugars for their energy production. Thus,
when copper is not available to the body in sufficient
quantity, aerobic or normal oxygen-using metabolism
is crippled to some degree, while http://www.drlwilson.com/articles/copper_toxicity_syndrome.htm

carbohydrate foods. It is also fed by gluten-containing
grains. Gluten-containing grains include wheat, oats,

"Candida is not a stand alone disease. It is a
symptom of a stress on the body. It can be from a weakened
immune system, infected teeth, digestion problems and
on and on. Candida can not exist if the bodies digestion

health. Any treatment that does not address
the immune system and the bowels will not provide a
permanent cure of Candida. http://www.amaluxherbal.com/candida_yeast_infections.htm

the presence of mercury, and altered pH (a great debate!),
which accompanies abnormal composition of bacterial

mercury from the body, ..." http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=50365

Conquering Candidiasis
Naturally by Stephen C. Byrnes, N.D., R.N.C.P.
Garlic, Golden Seal, Barberry, Oregon Grape Root, Licorice
root, Astragalus, clove, ginseng, Tea tree oil, Caprylic
acid, Colloidal silver, (He recommends; Oxygen is an
antifungal compound. Taking stabilized oxygen products,
like flavored peroxide combinations found in health
food stores, can also be employed in one's recovery.

"The latest in candida treatment are enteric coated
essential oils. Oregano, peppermint, and rosemary oils
are all extremely powerful against candida and some
supplement companies already have formulas using these
oils on the market. Oregano oil is estimated at being
100 times more powerful than caprylic acid. Be prepared
for some explosive diarrhea when using this product.
As the yeast cells die, the body makes every effort
to expel them.
Vitamin/mineral supplementation is a good idea to not
only insure that adequate nutrients are ingested, but
also to help the immune system fight the infection.
The following are suggested daily guidelines. For individual
needs, its best to see a health practitioner who is
familiar with approaching candidiasis: Vitamin A (as
retinol and beta carotene)- 75,000 iu; vitamin C- 3
to 5 gms.; selenium- 200 mcg.; zinc- 50 mg.; vitamin
E- 400 iu; iron- 10 mg.; essential fatty acids- 4 gms;
high potency multi vitamin/mineral- 1 a day.
One particularly useful nutrient is the free-form amino
acid glutamine. Glutamine is very pivotal in maintaining
proper muscle mass, brain function, intestinal integrity,
and stable blood sugar levels..." Source

"A medical test has been developed
in which, after an overnight fast, the individual is
given 100 grams of pure sugar. Blood samples taken both
before the sugar loading, and an hour after, are mesured
for alcohol. An increase of alcohol indicates yeast
"auto-brewery" intoxication. Another connection
between alcohol and candidiasis has been found in a
study of 213 alcoholics at a recovery center in Minneapolis.
Test and questionaire results indicated that candidiasis
is a common complication of alcoholism due to the combination
of high sugar content in alcohol and the inability of
alcoholics to assimilate nutrients. Additionally, female
alcoholics with candidiasis were significantly sicker
than non alcoholic women with candidiasis." http://www.liferesearchuniversal.com/candidiasis2.html

Last in a recent article called " Candida and the
Antibiotic Syndrome" states that in the 1940's
Candida was found in only three percent of autopsies,
now the figure is 30%. That is quite a statistic - one
in three has a high probability of having a candida
fungus overgrowth. (13,14) It is astounding to me
that medical doctors who use emperical knowledge can
see this stastice and still not believe that Candida
is a serious disease.

"Honey has an antifungal effect
against Candida species. Irish J, Carter DA, Shokohi
T, Blair SE. School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences,
University of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. j.irish@mmb.usyd.edu.au
Abstract The incidence of Candida infections is escalating
worldwide. The serious nature of these infections is
compounded by increasing levels of drug resistance.
We report that certain honeys have significant antifungal
activity against clinical isolates of Candida species.
Importantly, the minimum inhibitory concentration of
these honeys would be achievable in a clinical setting.
