Chronic
Fatigue "CFS" CFS is a misunderstood
illness. CFS is being studied by many large research organizations
including CDC and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
CFS can result in inability to work or function
effectively. Depression and mental problems are often symptoms
which when treated with drugs do not alleviate the underlining
causes and often increase the other symptoms. CFS completely
shuts down the mental and physical aspects of ones life.
Many who do not know what it is or have not experienced
it are quick to judge with trite statements such as, "Just
exercise and think positive." Such statements
are judgmental and absolutely do not apply to a CFS person.
Foggy brain and the complete inability to function
normally is not something just thinking positive will overcome.
Some symptoms:
- chronic fatigue for at least 6 months
or longer that is not alleviated by rest
- forgetfulness or difficulty concentrating - foggy
brain
- sore throat
- tender lymph nodes in the neck or armpit
- muscle pain or multi-joint pain without swelling
- headaches of a new type, pattern, or severity
- un refreshing sleep and vague feelings of illness
or depression after exerting oneself, lasting more
than 24
hours following exertion
- tiredness that lasts longer than 24 hours |
CFS
Medical treatment problems:
- There is a major feeling among the medical community
to ignore CFS as a valid disease.
- Many diagnose it as hypochondria.
- In treating more recognized diseases without accepting
that they are related to CFS it may aggravate or worsen
both the disease and CFS.
